Year 6 parent:
"I am just writing to express our gratitude for the way the ELT transition team has worked with our son, at Lum Head Primary."
Year 6 Parent:
"A few months ago, we met with staff at The Kingsway School after our son received an offer to attend. We faced a challenging period as a family at that time, as our son had a strong desire to attend a grammar school and experienced heartbreak upon receiving a place at Kingsway due to the school's reputation. However, we would like to thank the school for the amazing transition programme, which helped him feel more comfortable and positive about Kingsway and changed his view of the school. Everyone has been amazing with him and it is greatly appreciated. We are looking forward to him starting at Kingsway, and we hope we will continue to have positive experiences. We feel reassured that he will thrive and reach his best potential at Kingsway"
Claire Wilson Assistant Head - Etchells Primary:
"We have been so impressed with the quality of the offer that we have been given from Kingsway and their transition team. Our children have been well prepared for their move, to Kingsway or other High Schools. Sessions have been delivered throughout the year, in which the transition team have been able to get to know our children extremely well. Just knowing their names to speak to them in their first few weeks will mean so much to them. Both the sports offer and the transition work have been invaluable and given the children the opportunity to show themselves at their very best. Thank you so much!"
Gemma Norman Parent/Headteacher Gatley Primary:
"Just wanted to say a huge thank you for facilitating the evening transition activities for the children! I can not describe the positive buzz that is sitting around Kingsway as a result of this! The children have come back so excited but most importantly have said how the worries they did have had disappeared! Well done and thank you (as a teacher and a parent!)"
Phil Ryan Headteacher - Lum Head Primary:
"I just wanted to take a moment to tell you how positive an experience the Education Learning Trust's Transition Team have brought to transition this year. This morning I took a learning walk through school and our Year 6 pupils were engrossed in the dilemma game that you have devised and invested in. It was evident that the relationships in the classroom were comfortable allowing them confidence to explore the 'dilemma' more fully. The transition team have built such a good relationship with them. They clearly knew them so well. I just wanted to let you know that I really appreciate the work you have all done."
Year 6 Parent:
"I just wanted to say how much my daughter enjoyed this evening’s Step up to Secondary event. She came away saying she had great fun and was really excited to come to Kingsway. Thanks so much to you and all the teachers who gave up their time to run the event."
Will Dudley Deputy Head - Prospect Vale:
"The Kingsway POP Transition sessions have been really beneficial for our pupils so far and have added carefully thought through planning and structure to transition in general. We have not had this level of planning and structure in place before where communication between ourselves and forwarding high schools has been this strong so we are very pleased with the offer and support our pupils are receiving in order to be ready for life at The Kingsway School.
The sessions have been very clear in intent and purpose and have been designed to address and meet the needs of our pupils moving forward. We would be keen to see this continue and grow in the future.
In addition, whilst many of our pupils do go to The Kingsway, the others who will not attend The Kingsway School have been able to access the sessions in equal measure as the skills and learning have applied to them too.
We have also enjoyed the opportunities provided by Kingsway in arts, music, dance and drama which allowed all to experience a range of activities that The Kingsway School offer."
