Nursery Lunchtime Support Assistant - Meadowbank Primary School

Salary:  Scale 1 Point 3 (£13.27 per hour)

The Role:

We are looking for a nurturing Lunchtime Support Assistant, based in our Nursery class, to create a calm, playful lunchtime experience for our 3 and 4-year-olds. Working with school leaders, you will help our youngest learners grow socially, emotionally and independently.

Candidates will be enthusiastic, patient, energetic, and passionate about Early Years. They will need to have a calming approach that helps children feel safe and will want to make lunchtimes a wonderful part of the children’s day.

The Key Responsibilities are:

  • Purposeful Play: Facilitate fun, child-led play indoors and outdoors, whatever the weather.
  • Small-Group Learning: Guide teaching and learning with small groups of children, while naturally facilitating learning within the indoor environment.
  • Social Dining: Encourage independence (using cutlery, trying new foods) and talk with children to build language skills.
  • Emotional Support: Help children navigate their emotions with patience, kindness, and understanding.

Daily Wellbeing & Safety: Keep children safe and happy by managing allergies, administering basic first aid, and handing over smoothly to the nursery team.
